PATENT PROSECUTION
A point of main emphasis of our legal services is the drafting of patent applications in German and English language and the prosecution of the applications before the Patent Offices. Besides prosecution at the EPO and the German Patent and Trademark Office, we have long-term experience in drafting and prosecuting US first filings tailored to meet the specific requirements of US patent law. Our drafting and prosecution work is handled in close cooperation with our clients to achieve the optimum scope of protection.
DESIGNS
A design shapes a product and directly affects the consumer behavior. We handle design applications before the German and European Design Offices. We advise our clients on the appropriate representation of the design and on combining of multiple designs in one application.
PATENT LITIGATION
We protect our clients’ interests in opposition and nullity proceedings – both from the perspective of invalidating IP rights of competitors and safeguarding our clients’ corporate IP rights against revocation actions.
In infringement litigation cases we provide comprehensive advise to our clients on enforcement and defense strategies. We prepare infringement opinions and participate in patent litigation in cooperation with specialized attorneys-at-law (Rechtsanwälte) before German civil courts. Patent Attorneys of L&L were engaged in major litigation cases in the past years.
TRADEMARKS
Trademarks are the signs to distinguish products or services of one supplier from those of others. We handle trademark applications and oppositions before the German and European Trademark Offices. We advise on the appropriate category of the trademark and on the formulation of the list of goods and services.
